THERMOWOOD DECKING MAINTENANCE

Like any wood, the surface of thermally modified wood naturally turns silver-gray over time – this process starts immediately and can take anything from a few months to a few years depending on the levels of UV radiation they’re exposed to. However, this does not make the wood less durable.

 

Thermowood decks can be easily cleaned with water and soap. If the decking has faded and lost its original color, a light sanding can be done to restore its brand new look. If you would like to preserve or change the tone of thermally modified wood, you can apply UV-resistant oil to the deck once a year to make it darker. To brighten the deck, the same brightener used for teak can be applied.
